From short-form videos to branded content, we’re constantly talking about what you should be posting on social media. But it’s also important to take a look at the other side of things. Here are some items we believe real estate professionals should NOT be posting to social media:

  1. Selling Your Services Too Often – A good social media strategy consists of giving value, value, value to your target audience. You should rarely be straight-up selling your real estate services. Examples of selling posts include phrases like: working by referral, who do you know that I can help, or contact me for your real estate needs. It’s OK to throw selling posts into your lineup every so often, but make sure these types of posts also give value to your audience rather than just selling your services.

  1. Only Using Static Photos – In order to get the most reach on social media, make sure you’re posting a mix of content such as posts, carousels, stories, and reels. Facebook and IG will reward you for this by favoring you in the algorithm and putting your content in front of fresh eyes. Video is a great way to get seen by audiences that never would have found you otherwise.

  1. Exclusively Posting About Business – Building the like, know, trust factor with your social media audience is absolutely critical in growing your community and gaining new leads. If you’re only posting about business that means you’re never allowing people to get to know you. Instead of only posting your listings, make sure you add some personal touches into the mix such as behind-the-scenes, community spotlights (and why YOU love the community), and local business spotlights. This gives people a glimpse of the person, not just the realtor.
