I hear this all the time from real estate professionals:
“I know I need to be on social media, but I have no idea what to post other than listings.”
“I don’t have time for social media – it’s a full-time job!”
“What platform am I supposed to be on this month?”
Does any of this sound familiar? If this is you, you are certainly not alone!
I know social media can seem intimidating – after all, marketing is NOT your full time job. Your job is selling houses, serving your clients, and being an expert in your field. And as a small business owner myself, I know the struggle of wearing all the hats, and striving to wear them well! That’s why I want to help ease your burden of ‘what to post to social media by helping you create a killer content strategy – right here, right now!
Here are seven types of content every realtor should have on repeat. My goal with sharing this content calendar is to help you explode your social media growth and make sure you are never staring at a blank screen again wondering “What do I post?”!
- Expert Tips & Advice:
Examples of this are buying and selling tips, financial tips, home staging tips, how to boost curb appeal, etc. As a realtor you are a wealth of knowledge. Share these tips regularly to establish yourself as an expert in your field and give value to your target audience.
2. Behind the Scenes:
People are on social media to be social. They want to get to know you – not just what you’re selling. Give us some insight to who you are by taking us behind the scenes! Examples of this are: setting up for an open house, working in your office, hobbies, recipes, family/friends. It is up to you how personal you get on social media, but you do need to GET SOCIAL and share your personality. Regularly show your face on your accounts and share a few personal items about yourself.
3. Client Testimonials:
People want to work with someone they like, know, and trust. Don’t be shy about sharing testimonials to build that trust factor.
4. Quotes:
Quotes are one of the most shared pieces of content on Instagram. What mantras, quotes, or words of wisdom resonate with you? This is another chance to show your personality by sharing your favorite sayings.
5. Ask Questions for Engagement:
Give people the opportunity to engage with you by asking questions. Examples of this are: this or that, home decor, dream home, favorites books/movies, ask for or share recipes. This is a way to engage with your audience. Learn about them, and also share your answers so they can get to know you!
6. Highlight the Local:
This is a big one! Show your audience that you know the area and you love the area! Share local articles, highlight a neighborhood, tag your favorite restaurant/coffee shop, get involved in community events and share your experiences.
7. Sell:
Here’s where you sell your services by posting your listings: Coming Soon, Just Listed, Open House, Sold, etc. Do people want to see these? Yes! But not too often. I recommend selling your services no more than every 4-5 posts.
OK, there it is! Your winning social media strategy to grow your audience and engage with your community!
